Goalscorers – Sareet x6, Zara x3, Ola, Georgia, Kiara, Megan
Our girls travelled to Birmingham on a sunny Tuesday night to play against Harborne district. Our girls are now getting to know each other and it’s great to see them play with such enthusiasm and love for the game.
We started the game very strongly when the excellent Sareet went on a trademark run through the heart of the Harborne defence to finish strongly past the ‘keeper to make it 1-0. It was 2-0 shortly after Sareet bundled in the rebound as the ball bounced around the box. Megan made it 3-0 with a lovely chip, which evaded the goalkeeper’s dive and it was quickly 4-0 when Sareet again was in the right place at the right time to complete her hattrick. It was 5-0 when Sareet made a brilliant solo run to score and then Kiara grabbed her first ever goal and something she will never forget. What a moment! 6-0 HT.
Zara opened her Wolverhampton account with an excellent finish after a pass from Lydia. Sareet scored another with a great strike from distance. Sareet scored a free kick to make it 9-0. And our tenth was scored by Zara after an amazing run from Georgia. Georgia is playing two years above her age group with more and more confidence every time she steps on the pitch. Ola finished in the bottom corner for number 11. Then Harborne capitalised on a rare defensive lapse to sneak a goal, which was no less than they deserved. It was a warm evening and they worked very hard as a team. Gabrielle won the ball high up the pitch and played it to Zara to complete her hattrick for our twelfth goal and we finished the night off when Georgia (no less than she deserved) grabbed a goal herself to make it 13-1. The result was unimportant. These girls are outstanding and lots to work on for next season when there is a National Cup competition to play in!
