With a number of our regular starters now playing in the MJPL it was always going to be tough against a very strong North Shropshire outfit but when we also had to cope with withdrawals on the morning of the match due to injury or illness the task facing us looked monumental. This
is no reflection on the lads who turned up though because they performed admirably even though many of them were forced to play out of position in order to fill the gaps. Despite the eventual margin of defeat we started extremely well by pressing our opponents in midfield every time they got on the ball, but once we had conceded the first goal our heads tended to drop. The fact that the move started with a boot up field from OUR corner made it difficult to swallow and what made it even worse was two similar goals followed in quick succession. Something had to change and a slight reorganisation of the team did bring about a bit of a resurgence with Zach scoring a fine goal, but North Shropshire replied with a goal of their own from the kick off, and we went into the break facing a 4-1 deficit. Nevertheless we came out for the second half determined to take the game to the opposition and in our best spell we hit the post and caused a few problems for their defence but their goalkeeper was in top form and it just wasn't going to be our day. North Shropshire scored four more times after the interval to gain an 8-2 victory, with Caden's goal all that we could manage in reply. That goal though was set up by the scorer of our first goal, and Zach's performance was the real highlight of the morning. He led by example throughout . An absolute class performance!
