October 22nd 2023. U12's march on with 6-4 win.

Updated: Oct 24, 2023

Another excellent win for the Wolverhampton U12 schoolgirls who maintain their 100% record in the ESFA National Cup. After two previous cancellations, due to the weather, the tie was eventually staged in Birmingham and the girls started really well and were 2-0 up inside five minutes with Lshae expertly finishing both chances which came her way.The perfect start got even better when a ball from Georgia resulted in a Barnsley defender putting the ball into her own net after seven minutes but just when it looked as though we would run riot a lapse of concentration allowed Barnsley to pull a goal back and whilst we were still very much in control the score remained 3-1 at the break.

A quick start to the second half saw Lshae score a further 2 goals. The first assisted by Jess, the second a good strike from the edge of the box, and with us leading 5-1 after 40 minutes we were cruising until lapses of concentration enabled the vistors to pull two goals back within a very short period of time.Undaunted, we pressed again and ensured that the last five minutes weren’t as nervy as they could have been and were awarded a penalty which Lshae dispatched to increase our lead before Barnsley scored just before the whistle, to make the final score 6-4.There will be tougher tests to come and the team will have to ensure that they remain focussed for the duration of the game but credit must go to all the girls for winning what could have been a difficult game. Thanks to all the parents for their support and we look forward to our next fixture away at Sheffield on 10th November.
