After our narrow 4-3 defeat to Aston on the previous Saturday the lads were looking for a change of fortune against Harborne but once again things didn't quite go to plan. Corban and Thai (2), who had shared the goals, and man of the match accolade against Aston, were both present but we were still rather depleted as three players had to play for the under 11s as they only had five players turn up for their game. This resulted in a 7- a-side, rather than the usual
9- a- side game, and before we knew it we were 3-0 down. Hardly the start we were expecting but excellent wing play by Corban allowed him to square the ball to Thai who tapped in to give us a foothold in the game shortly before half time.
The second half began with Wolverhampton on the front foot and a nicely taken free kick from Albaji on the edge of the box landed at the feet of Lucas who tapped it in from a yard out to further reduce the deficit and shortly afterwards we were level. The equaliser was well deserved and was a wonderful individual effort by Albaji who found the net after a lovely run which left the defenders in his wake. Jakson had kept Wolves in the game with some exceptional saves throughout, but the momentum had certainly turned and once we had gone 4-3 up as a result of Corban finding the top left corner of the net after another brilliant run, there seemed only one winner. No such luck, however, and our opponents scored twice in the final 10 minutes of the match to secure a rather unlikely 5-4 victory. An exciting game, in which the Wolverhampton lads had displayed great character to fight back from a 3-0 deficit, but ultimately it was all to no avail and it was Harborne who were able to have the final say.
