March 29th 2025. u10 Boys play well to win a close Cup Final.

After so many close calls this season the u10 Boys at last pulled out all the stops to win the Division Two Cup Final after a real ding dong of a battle against Sutton Coldfield. Judged on the semi final performances of the two sides it must be said that Wolverhampton probably started as short favourites because their 4-0 demoition of Harborne had been breathtaking at times. Nihaal had set the ball rolling in the semi-final with a great individual goal, beating player after player before rounding the Keeper to tap the ball into an empty net and once Thai had put Corban through to double our advantage our place in the final was all but assured. At that point the lads could have been forgiven if they had dropped back into a defensive shell but they continued to press forward and they scored twice more to put the icing on the cake. Fabien beating a couple of players on the left before drilling the ball under the keeper for the third and finally Nihaal latching on to a great midfield pass from Hassan to complete the scoring with a lovely right foot finish.

Finals aren't won on paper, however, and not surprisingly Sutton Coldfield proved to be a tough nut to crack and gave as good as they got in a very tense encounter. Both teams were wary of pressing too much for fear of making a mistake and chances were at a premium. Nevetheless, the Wolverhampton defence kept their shape throughout and on the rare occasion they looked threatened Jakson proved to be on the top of his form making some impressive saves. In a game of so few chances therefore it was always going to need something special to break the deadlock and "cometh the hour cometh the man" and Corban emerged as the hero of the morning with a superb individual effort. He beat his defender before unleashing a shot of such power and accuracy that it gave Sutton's keeper no chance of stopping it and it deserved to win any match let alone a final. Well done lads. A great all round team performance!
