March 22nd 2025. u11 Boys reach 6-a-side Cup Final

iancfootball

The Primary Boys defied the odds this morning by reaching the 6-aide final after winning just one of their opening three matches. The lads did recover from a rather mundane 0-0 scoreline in their opening fixture against Kings Norton by defeating South Birmingham A 2-1 but this hard fought victory, which was too close for comfort, was quickly followed by a 2-0 reverse against Aston. Caden and Jaxon, who had scored our goals against South Birmingham, were denied clear cut opportunities in this loss and our confidence was gradually beginning to wain as we prepared to face Erdington B in the decisive fourth fixture of the competition.Nothing short of a win would be sufficient to keep us in contention and to the lads great credit they rose to the challenge and ground out a 2-1 victory with Kian and Jaxon both on the scoresheet.

This match was the turning point of our morning and after goals from Jaxon and Kian had propelled us to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Erdington C we were able to overcome a strong Sutton Coldfield side to secure a place in the final. The semi final was once again a match which could have gone either way but we were just able to get over the line once Caden had scored the only goal in the contest. Overall this was probably the best we have played all season and it would have been fabulous if we could have capped this wonderful team performance ,with Findley superb throughout, by lifting the Trophy but unfortunately it was not to be. Erdington A fully deserved their 2-0 margin of victory in the final but what a memorable morning's football. Well done Boys!
