Wolverhampton started well against Harborne, with Theo Scott making his debut in midfield and Alhaji Bah stepping up from the u10 to get his first outing at this level, but as there was so lttle to separate the two teams it was looking as though the first half would end goalless when Jaxon gave us the lead to seemingly take us into the break with a slight advantage. Our opponents had other ideas, however, and drew level with virtually the last attack of the half. It was frustrating to concede so late of course but the game was finely balanced at 1-1 and there was no reason why we couldn't push on to win the match in the second half.
Any hope that we could quickly restore our advantage once the game had resumed was quickly dispelled, however, when Harborne made it 2-1 virtually from the kick off and calamitous defending on our part enabled them to cut us open three more times to establish a substantial 4-1 advantage. Surely there was no way back but a great ball from Ben Johnson in midfield gave Zach Myers the chance to get away from his markers to score his first goal of the morning and when he followed that with another great strike we were amazingly in touching distance of a remarkable comeback. Zach's determination to get us back into the game had certainly rubbed off on the rest of our team but unfortunately we ran out of time and ended up on the wrong end of a seven goal thriller.
