Another great evening of fun and endeavour at Bodymoor Heath with the girls engaged on this occasion in The Eni Aluko Cup. There is so little to separate the eight teams, and such a thin line between winning and losing, that the team who scores first invariably wins and this was clearly apparent in our opening fixture as North Shropshire never looked like relinquishing their grip on the game once they had gone 2-0 up against us. On the other hand we still draw far too many games and it was disappointing that we allowed Erdington to share the points, despite Rosie's fine effort, before finally getting into our stride in the next three outings. Goals from Rosie, Megan and Layla helped to defeat Cannock by a 3-0 margin before strikes from Layla and Rosie accounted for Aston.
We then swept East Birmingham aside in match five with Rosie, Layla and Clara all on target in another 3-0 win and with three games still to play we had a real opportunity to impact the competition. Despite Layla's fourth goal of the evening, however, we then lost 2-1 to Kings Norton before ending the evening with two 1-1 draws which virtually ended any chance of narrowing the gap on the top two teams. Rosie hitting the target against South Staffs and Clara then finding the net against Walsall in our concluding fixture.
