February 3rd 2024. The U12 Girls' Cup run ends in defeat.

When the QF. draw was made for the ESFA National Plate Competition the one team we wanted to avoid was Carmarthenshire and as luck would have it our worst fear was realised. In an ideal scenario this couldn't have happened of course but with so few fixtures in Group D due to the late withdrawal of Dartford and Hackney the three remaining teams all finished on the same number of points and Carmathenshire ended up in the Plate rather than in the main competition due to scoring one less goal. Three of our opponents were recently called up to the Welsh U12 Regional squad and we knew that things would be tough against such a talented outfit but it was disappointing that we were unable to impose ourselves on the game early on before the Welsh girls had time to settle. Unfortunately, the reverse was true and by half time it was obvious to one and all that Carmarthenshire were not going to release their grip on the game. Georgia Hambrook's goal was one of the few bright moments from the match and to be fair no-one could really argue that a 6-1 scoreline wasn't a true reflection of the play. They say "if you don’t win, you learn’" and in that case we have quite a lot of learning ahead of us !

Squad :

Poppy Pitt, Evie Holmes, Eesha Sidhu, Freya Rickuss, Georgia Hambrook, Jessica Osborne,

Grace Steadman, Leja Lopetaityte, Imogen Jones, Lshae Thomas, Samaira Paul, Grace Lambert.
