The U13's shared 10 goals with their hosts in this Friday evening Champions Cup game at St.Helens and it couldn't have started better as we went ahead after just 5 minutes. St.Helens equalised, however, and eventually took the lead against the run of play after Lexi Moss had gone close, and we had hit the crossbar and post within the space of 10 seconds. In a see - saw end to the half Lexi Ruby made the score 2-2 before the home side went ahead once again.
Shortly after the restart a counter attack enabled St. Helens to extend their lead but a wonderful take from Lexi Moss resulted in the award of a penalty which was brilliantly dispatched by Faith into the bottom left corner of the net. After a break on the side-lines, Lexi Ruby came back on to the pitch to great effect and scored the goal which took us level at 4-4. A fantastic free kick into the top corner put St. Helens ahead once again with 10 minutes left to play and our girls could have been forgiven for thinking that this wasn't our day but they responded excellently once again. Our equaliser came just two minutes later after another fantastic through ball by Scarlett, who was our Player of the match, set up the equaliser. This was a game that we could have won because going forward we always looked dangerous and Lexi Ruby's slendid hat trick, plus an excellent finish from Dhemi Lee Simpson-Taylor, should have been enough to secure the win. Nevertheless, at the end of the day we have to be satified with a point after showing such great positivity to come back from a losing position.
